NEEA’s Suite Search

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) is on a mission – mobilize the Northwest to become increasingly energy efficient for a sustainable future. To that end, NEEA recognized an opportunity in its own search for new office space to spread the word of high performance buildings to others who lease and own office space. High performance office space is defined across many levels – financially responsible, productive and healthy for staff, and of course – energy efficient.

Throughout the Suite Search process, NEEA collaborated with all parties involved in the property search, lease agreement and tenant improvements to ensure the new space met stringent energy efficiency standardsand served as an example to the marketplace.

Over the coming months, NEEA will post a series of articles and insights gleaned from its own experience to share with tenants, building owners and property managers on the process of identifying, negotiating and eventually moving into an energy efficient office space. This series will cover everything from choosing the property search team, demystifying the LEED CI process and how to properly educate tenants to maximize energy efficiency.
