The Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) looked at how they’re deploying Department of Energy (DOE) energy tools, city-collected data, and more to unlock a range of efficiency benefits for all. See how their lessons learned can be applied in cities around the country with IMT’s new toolkit.

The toolkit is the culmination of a three-year initiative partially funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and conducted with the District of Columbia, New York City, and their respective partners DCSEU and NYCEEC, to examine how benchmarking data can be taken off of spreadsheets and put to use to drive actual savings.

This comprehensive toolkit has 12 components–reports, action-oriented tools, and case studies–that will allow city government sustainability leaders in jurisdictions with benchmarking and building performance policies, or those considering adopting them, with guidance on using city-collected data to identify ripe efficiency opportunities. For utilities and energy efficiency service providers, the lessons learned in the District and New York provide methods for increasing program participation rates and lowering the cost of customer acquisition.
