An advanced performance dedicated outside air system (DOAS)—previously known as very high efficiency DOAS—is a commercial HVAC approach with the potential to reduce HVAC energy use by up to 69% when compared to a code-minimum system (often a packaged rooftop unit).

This energy modeling guide for energy analysts and design consultants addresses a resource gap for best representing very high efficiency DOAS in annual energy modeling by:

  • Providing technical analysis support and recommendations using lessons learned and time-tested methods.
  • Enhancing energy modelers’ accuracy in predicting energy use and future savings for very high efficiency DOAS in typical commercial building applications.
